![]() Drove the car to class, got it up to full operating temp and the gauge didn't seem to sit anywhere out the usual (I run a 160˚ stat, so at operating temp, the water temp gauge sits very slightly below the first tick to the left of center. Am I in trouble? (2)I know usually there is a pressure relief valve/hose that dumps excess coolant onto the ground if there's too much pressure beyond the radiator and then the reservoir.(3) Wanted to check and see if that's the case. Let it settle, checked and it was above the max mark on the coolant dipstick. Cracked open a fresh jug of DexCool 50/50 and poured in just a bit to the reservoir tank fill neck. I opened the radiator cap,(1) it seemed full, but I wanted to follow the rules. Per the owner's manual, if this level is below min, you should add coolant to the reservoir tank. Roughly 24˚ here in MA this morning, checked coolant dead cold and it was below the min line. If anyone would like some more information, PM me and I can set you up with the right people at the right price. Additionally, they do some pretty crazy street and motorsports builds, including full custom standalone ECU systems, in house dyno-tuning, and a lot more. Anyone in the greater Boston area looking for SS work should give them a call (shameless plug I know), they've been all over mine ever since I started working there and are more familiar with the quirks of the platform than most, despite not necessarily being a GM performance oriented outfit (although we've modified/built/tuned many LS powered cars). I'm talking a foot of heavy wet snow plus.Īdditional shoutout to my old shop, ACE Performance Systems in Tewksbury, MA, for the flawless install. And in the snow, on studded Nokians? It's practically unstoppable. ![]() The diff locks differently both on mechanical priciple and feelwise than the factory one, which doesn't have preload, and powering out of corners is SO much more controllable. OE one ate the spider gear in early December (big surprise lol) and this new diff, combined with some BMR lower suspension bits and subframe connectors has completely changed the car. P.S Shoutout to Livernois Motorsports (and BMR, for that matter) for their custom Camaro SS 3.91 TrueTrac diff setup. Long and excessive overthought on a most likely small issue, but I'm a very curious person and really want to know. Parked on a slight downhill, nose down, so maybe I'll see something out of the ordinary when I'm back, but I opened the hood once I parked, and didn't smell any coolant anywhere. Gave it the boot a bit once at operating temp, no steam or anything. As the stat opens/closes during driving it fluctuates between this slightly lower position and exactly on the first tick to the left of center). Wanted to check and see if that's the case.
